Winter is an exciting time at Alyeska Resort! Whether you're ringing in the new year at the Torchlight Parade or closing the ski season in style at Spring Carnival, there is always something fun happening at Alyeska in winter.
Opening Day! (November 24, 2016)
The first day of skiing and riding for the 2016/17 winter season.
Ski Patrol Auction (December 3, 2015)
A rowdy fundraiser at the Sitzmark to benefit the resort's Avalanche Canine Program, which currently supports three dogs - Fundy, Yuki, & Kilo. Ten (un)willing patrollers from Alyeska's Ski Patrol will be featured and each live auction winner will win an early morning ski with their patroller of choice.
Torchlight Parade & Fireworks (December 31, 2016)
A New Year's Eve tradition, the Torchlight Parade lights up Mt. Alyeska as skiers and snowboarders ski down the mountain in formation with flares. A stunning fireworks show immediately follows the parade.
North Face Vertical Challenge (February 24, 2017)
Skiers and snowboarders test their endurance during the North Face Vertical Challenge, a day-long race in which 50 competitors vie to see who can get the most accumulated vertical on the North Face from 9:30 am until 5 pm.
Spring Carnival (April 7 - 9, 2017)
With one of the longest ski seasons in North America, Alyeska Resort embraces spring in typical Alaskan fashion. Spring Carnival takes advantage of the long days with extended hours of lift operations, great spring-skiing conditions, and Alyeska’s largest and most popular winter event, Slush Cup, where competitors dressed in zany costumes attempt to skim across a 90-foot long pool of freezing water. Other activities include the Sitzmark Costume Party, Idiot Swim, Dummy Downhill, XTRATUF Pull Tug-of-War, live music, and more!
