Nordic Skiing

Nordic skiing has deep-roots in this region of the state. The extensive world-class trail system in Anchorage features over 130 km of trails. Anchorage is home to three-time Olympian Kikkan Randall, just one of the seven Nordic skiers who made the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver. For a trail map of Anchorage Trail System, and the latest grooming/trail reports visit the Nordic Ski Association of Anchorage website.

Here in Girdwood, we have five kilometers of groomed trails for classic and skate skiers as well as numerous meadows offering spectacular tour skiing. From The Hotel Alyeska, guests can conveniently access the trail system in Moose Meadows. Located just outside the hotel main entrance, Moose Meadows is an open expanse with groomed trails for Nordic (cross country) skiing, biking, and skijoring.  The meadow is also a great place to snowshoe and capture beautiful mountain photos. TRAIL UPDATES – Girdwood has a NEW 5K ski-only trail system being constructed just north of The Hotel Alyeska. This new system will be finished in Winter 2011 and offer spectacular rolling terrain to compliment the meadows. For further information, and updates on grooming and trail maps visit the Girdwood Nordic Ski Club website. 

Gear Rentals

Guests can rent a complete Nordic Ski Package including boots, poles and skis at the Alyeska Rental Shop located on the 2nd floor of the hotel.
