February 17, 2011 (Girdwood, Alaska) – The Sitzmark Bar & Grill at Alyeska Resort continues its strong music line-up this winter with AC/DC all-female tribute band, Hell’s Belles. The band is scheduled to play at the Sitzmark Bar & Grill Friday and Saturday, February 25 and 26. The show is at 10:00 PM and tickets are $20 in advance and $25 day of show.
The members of Hell’s Belles’ are first and foremost dedicated AC/DC fanatics. With every live show, they strive to deliver the same mechanical precision and passionate fury of one of the greatest rock & roll bands in the world. Former in 2000 by founding members Om Johari & Amy Stolzenbach, Hell’s Belles has evolved over the years into the current line-up featuring original member Mandy Reed (bass guitar), Adrian Conner (lead guitar), Lisa Brisbois (rhythm guitar), and Laura D. (drums). The band welcomed vocalist Amber Saxon in 2011. Hailing from Australia, Amber is fresh off touring with the band BugGiRL, and features the kind of bombastic hard rock power that makes no apologies and is dangerous around the edges. Not for the weak or the weary, Amber's hardscrabble Aussie roots mirror the start of AC/DC's long career legacy.
Hell’s Belles actively encourages their female fans to stand up and be counted, and to collaborate with women musicians and causes as a part of the mission towards rock and roll inclusion. The band’s mission is not some down-your-throat feminism, but a proactive march towards balancing of the gender scales. The band’s set list changes to include a fresh variety of classics every show from "Live Wire" to "The Jack" to "TNT", not to mention AC/DC’s landmark hits “Highway to Hell”, “Thunderstruck”, and “Back in Black”. 2011 will bring the long overdue new studio recording to follow up 2005’s “We Salute You”, featuring Amber Saxon’s bombastic vocals and the addition of AC/DC material from the “Black Ice” release.
The concerts coincide with Telepalooza, a Telemark festival weekend filled with on-mountain races and après ski activities. This year’s festival theme is “rock star” a nod to the weekend’s performers, and concert-goers are encouraged to dress up in their best rock & roll outfits to win great prizes.
Known as a favorite gathering spot for skiers and riders with a simple menu of burgers, grilled sandwiches, draft beer and full bar, the Sitzmark is coming into its own as a place to see live music. Open daily during the winter season, Sitzmark is the most popular après ski spot at Alyeska Resort. With a casual ambiance, bar games and classic ski paraphernalia on the walls, the “Sitz” – as it’s fondly called by locals – has also grown into a formidable concert venue in Southcentral Alaska.
The resort offers two different Sitzmark lodging packages that offer a one-night stay plus concert tickets for two to four adults. For more information on the Sitzmark lodging packages, along with a full list of upcoming concerts, check online at www.AlyeskaResort.com.
