Alyeska Resort joins national Learn to Ski & Ride Month campaign; special $99 beginner group lesson package valid for three lessons in January
December 28, 2012 (Girdwood, Alaska) – The ski industry’s annual charge to introduce kids and adults to skiing and snowboarding kicks off in January: Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month is a national initiative designed for all ages to encourage trial and improvement of snowsport skills through lessons and coaching. Alyeska Resort joins the effort this winter with an introductory package that includes three lessons, lower mountain lift ticket and rental equipment for $99 per person.
The Alyeska Resort Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month package is designed for those new to skiing and snowboarding. The $99 package includes beginner level group lessons with certified instructors from the Alyeska Mountain Learning Center. The package represents a savings of $110 off regular lesson package rates. The package also includes lower mountain lift ticket which provides access on the magic carpets, Bear Cub Quad and Chair 7 and rental ski or snowboard equipment. The three group lessons are valid between January 5 and 31, 2013. Those interested in a ski package must be age five or older; those preferring a snowboard package must be age eight or older. Packages can be purchased in person at the Mountain Learning Center Desk located in the Daylodge, online at AlyeskaResort.com or by phone at 907-754-2280.
With the marketing mantra of “Humans Were Never Meant to Hibernate,” the Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month advocacy group works with the major players in the industry including most major resorts, National Ski Area Association, U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association, Snowsports Industry Association, Professional Ski Instructors of America, National Ski Patrol, U.S. Forest Service and many more. Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month was started in 2009 when resort associations in just a couple of states decided to launch their state-wide programs. Now, more than 300 ski areas, resorts and Nordic centers offer special learning programs during January. In some states, learning programs for cross country skiing and snowshoeing are also offered as part of the initiative. For more information, please visit www.SkiandSnowboardMonth.org.
