January 22, 2011 (Girdwood, Alaska) – Alyeska Resort is celebrating the heart of winter with the annual mid-season Winterfest weekend scheduled for February 4 to 6, 2011. This weekend is filled with on- and off-hill mountain activities, live music, and entertainment. There is a new addition to the events schedule this year. Winterfest will light up the night with a bonfire and fireworks show presented by Absolut™ Vodka. The best viewing will be from the Sitzmark Bar & Grill deck area. The bonfire will be roaring at 8:00 P.M. and the fireworks will start at 9:30 P.M. right after the lights from night-skiing are turned off.
At the Sitzmark, the Seattle-based band Flowmotion will be playing their last concert of a threenight run following the fireworks show. Flowmotion is scheduled to play at 10:00 P.M. on Thursday, February 3 to Saturday, February 5, 2011. The concerts at the Sitzmark are for ages 21 and over. Tickets for the shows are $10 in advance and $15 day of show, and can be purchased online at AlyeskaResort.com, by phone at 907-754-2215, or at any resort Ticket Offices.
Throughout the weekend, there will be a variety of other on-snow adventures including complimentary snowshoe and cross country tours and a special 50% off discount on rental cross country skis or snowshoes at The Hotel Alyeska. For alpine skiers, there will be demo skis available at the upper tram terminal from 11:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. For kids, there will be free four-trax sled rides, face painting, a kids fun race, and more.
In anticipation of the big game on Sunday, February 6, the Resort will be offering two for one lift tickets on Super Bowl Sunday. The lift ticket offer is valid on purchases of All-Day or Half- Day lift tickets (some restrictions may apply).Kick-off for Super Bowl XLV scheduled for approximately 2:25 P.M. AKT providing skiers and riders ample time to make turns when the lifts open at 10:30 A.M. There will be special Super Bowl menu items at both the Aurora Bar & Grill and Sitzmark. The Sitzmark chef is preparing Pittsburgh’s “Almost Famous” Primanti Brothers® sandwich known for its ample serving of ham, tomato, provolone cheese topped with French fries and coleslaw. For Green Bay Packer fans, there will be a Wisconsin beer and cheddar soup, plus a bratwurst and sauerkraut special. Local DJ and vocalist Total Rebel Sound System will be spinning tunes starting at 6:00 P.M. The live performance is free and open to all ages.
