Alyeska Resort celebrates a big winter with a weekend of free music and great food.
April 19, 2012 (Girdwood, Alaska) – The 2011/12 season will go down in the memories of Southcentral skiers and riders as a snow-filled winter wonderland. With incredible dry snowy conditions from opening day through much of the season, it is finally time to celebrate the amazing season and current spring-time conditions. Alyeska Resort is excited to announce the free Reggae Jams and end of season Island Party at the Sitzmark Bar & Grill scheduled for the weekend of April 27 to 29, 2012.
Reggae Jams includes two free nights of music on Friday and Saturday, April 27 and 28 starting at 9:00 P.M. The Reggae Jam nights will include live music by local bands Iyah Ites and Bare Roots. DJ Rohan and DJ Prince Albert will spin positive vibrations. The event is 21 and over.
On Sunday, April 29, the resort is hosting an Island Party at the Sitzmark featuring a snow stage just steps from the sunny Sitzmark deck. The Island Party is schedule from noon to 8:00 P.M. with free live music. The featured bands include: Bottle Caps for Dollars, DJ Ras Jah Real, AK Dub Sqaud, DJ Dangerous, Prime Minister, DJ Echo, and RnR. The Alyeska Resort culinary team is preparing an outdoor BBQ (weather permitting) for the day. Sunday, April 29 is also the last day for Seven Glaciers Restaurant for the winter season; the restaurant will reopen for daily summer operations on Friday, May 25.
May skiing starts on Saturday, May 5 with select chairlifts running from 11:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. conditions permitting. May skiing operates Fridays to Sundays through the end of the month and also includes skiing on Memorial Day Monday, May 28. May skiing lift tickets are $40 adult (ages 18-59); $30 for seniors (60-69), students and military; and, $15 for children ages (6-12), and $5 for super seniors (70+). Kids under the age of five accompanied by a ticketed parent or legal guardian ski for free. The Sitzmark Bar & Grill and Glacier Express will be open during May skiing operations offering lunch and après ski options.
