If you are considering joining our highly trained and skilled Mountain Learning Center team as a Junior Ski Instructor, this is the perfect way to get started! This program will offer specialized training to prepare you to become an instructor.

Description

Over the season, you will participate in a variety of clinics that will develop your understanding of skiing fundamentals and skills, teaching progressions, and different teaching and learning styles. You will also have the opportunity to shadow professional instructors during lessons. Participants who complete the Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA) Junior Instructor Program throughout the season will earn a certificate and pin from the PSIA organization.

DETAILS

  • This 13-week program is available for $799.00
  • Available on Saturdays from 10:30 am to 3:15 pm. (Lunch on own from 12:30 pm to 1:15 pm.)
  • Lift tickets are not included in the program. Season Pass or Choice Pass recommended. Lift ticket bundle for program days only, available upon request.
  • Tryouts for this program will be on December 17th at 10:30 am. Please check in prior to the start time at the MLC desk located inside the Daylodge.

PREREQUISITE

  • Trainees must be able to ski all intermediate terrain, on and off piste, with skis maintaining a parallel relationship. 
  • Trainees must be able to ski at a group pace and demonstrate safe skiing. 
  • Trainees are to have 1 pair of skis that facilitate teaching and proper demonstrations. 
  • This program is to develop the trainees’ skills and fundamentals as skiers with an emphasis on ski instruction. A certain level of safety and professionalism will be pursued. 

LESSON CANCELLATION & CHANGE POLICY

  • The program fee is structured such that each enrolled participant is paying for the option to attend every lesson day offered during the session. Accordingly, program fees are not pro-rated on a per-day basis and there shall be no provision for partial refunds in the event a child misses one or more lesson days.
  • There are no make-up days for individuals who miss a lesson day. In the rare event of a full mountain closure on a lesson day, Alyeska will designate a make-up day for all affected session participants. If a student cannot or chooses not to participate on the designated make-up day, there will be no additional make-up days provided.
  • Lift tickets purchased through the program are only valid for program-specific dates.
