Whittier & Prince William Sound

Nestled at the head of Passage Canal and the closest place to access the lively waters of Prince William Sound, Whittier is located just 25 miles south of Alyeska Resort. Travelling through the Whittier Tunnel is a visitor must-see. Originally constructed for train travel, the Whittier Tunner was converted in 2000 to handle both trains and auto traffic. The 2.5 mile tunnel is opened at regular intervals daily to allow vehicles access to Whittier as the longest highway tunnel in North America.
